– Government waste, political outrage, and the question nobody asks –
This post is a transcript from Curt Derby’s YouTube video titled “Ilhan Omar’s $1 Billion Scandal.” The transcript has been formatted for readability, with no changes to the original wording.
The Ilhan Omar Controversy
Last week, conservative influencers were having a field day.
They said Minnesota Representative Ilhan Omar stole a billion dollars from Minnesota taxpayers, sent it to different places and pocketed some of it herself.
Liberal influencers fired back. Fake news, racist targeting, same story, different day.
So, one side celebrated, one side screamed. Memes everywhere, outrage everywhere, and nobody mentioned the real problem.
Whether Ilhan Omar stole a billion dollars or not, we have always had a much bigger issue, and it has nothing to do with her.
The Real Issue
The issue is government waste is real. Government fraud is real. Exposed almost every year from both parties for decades. This is not theory.
Run a search for government wasteful spending and you’ll get a list so long you’ll think your browser crashed.
But instead of asking where the money went, what do we do? We fight about which team the accused person plays for.
Think about that for a minute. Our money disappears. And your first instinct is to defend your political team or attack the other one.
The Problem With Political Teams

Well, Curt, are you saying both sides are the same? No, I’m saying both sides have exposed fraud.
Both sides have exposed waste. Both sides have exposed bloated bills and broken promises. Look it up. It’s not hidden.
The exposed part isn’t the problem. The problem is what’s not exposed.
The trillions of dollars that disappear into committees and subcommittees and line items nobody reads.
The Hidden Costs Of Government Spending
So, let me ask you something. Do you know where your tax money went last year? Not vaguely, specifically.
Do you know which programs got it? Do you know how much went to overhead? Do you know how much got lost?
Of course you don’t. Nobody does. That’s the point.
But Curt, we need the government to manage this. Regular people can’t decide where taxes go. That’s crazy.
Is it? Is it crazier than handing trillions of dollars to 536 federal politicians and hoping they spend it wisely?
Is it crazier than finding out every few years that billions of dollars went missing and nobody can explain where?
Is it crazier than watching the same headline show up decade after decade while nothing changes?
Here’s what I talk about in my book.
A Radical Solution

Voluntary funding. It’s the third pillar of the four pillars of freedom.
You choose where your money goes. Not Congress, not agencies.
You you want to fund a program, fund it. You don’t, don’t. Simple.
No billion-dollar black holes. No scandals nobody can explain. No hoping some politician you’ve never met is honest.
Oh, Curt, that’ll never work. People won’t fund the important stuff.
Really? You don’t think people will pay for roads they drive on, schools their kids attend, services they actually use?
You trust 536 politicians more than you trust 340 million Americans to spend their own money.
That’s interesting because those 536 have exposed fraud in their ranks almost every year. And those 340 million people exposed almost none.
It’s easier to corrupt 536 people than 340 million. That’s not an opinion. That’s math.
The Challenge: Questioning Government Spending
So here’s my challenge to you. Next time you see a headline like the Omar story, don’t sprint into battle for your team.
Don’t post memes. Don’t call the other side names.
Ask one question.
Where is the money going?
Not politically. Literally, where does it go?
If you can’t answer that, you found the real problem.
And it’s not Ilhan Omar. It’s not Donald Trump. It’s not whoever gets thrown into the cage next week.
It’s a system that lets billions move without explanation. It’s a system that takes money out of our pockets and makes a lot of it disappear.
And it’s been that way our whole lives.
Conclusion: Fixing The System

Fix the structure and the scandals go away. Fix the structure and the blame game goes away.
Fix the structure and you stop yelling at your neighbor about politics.
When we the people control the money, corruption collapses. When freedom replaces force, everybody’s happy and everybody wins.
